đAfrican Alibaba helps you source products from Africa; Now even better
A lot is happening in Africa in e-commerce, and I do like to read and experience what is happening there. One of the things that is good to know is the Platform Zandaux, which is often referred to as the African Alibaba, is expanding.
âThe platform is targeting to have over 5,000 trade merchants in Egypt, 5,000 in South Africa, 3,000 in Kenya, and 10,000 in Nigeria by the first quarter of 2024,â said Franck Obambi-Ngatse, founder and chief executive of Zandaux Kenya Ltd., in an earlier interview.
Zandaux, which will accommodate big and small enterprises, will leverage technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain to create an efficient and reliable one-stop B2B sourcing platform.
So if you are in search of products for your Amazon shop, or any other trade, check out Zandaux, which is a secure and safe way of doing business in Africa.
đRiding the waves of culture: Fons Trompenaars
Back in 2012, I was at a conference where mr Fons Trompenaars gave a keynote speech on cultural differences. I had to think of this speech today. That talk gave me so much enthusiasm for international marketing and e-commerce, that I like to share it again here. Although this is not the exact talk I saw at the conference, it is a similar talk at TEDx in Amsterdam.
đProduct ownerâs save this one: a great Figma customer experience template
Carl Vellloti, the product manager who shares lots of good content, recently shared this experience map. I think it is a very good one. It includes jobs to be done, concepts, opportunities, and the emotional journey. If everyone starts using this template and uses the results, many products will have a much better experience. Good for all of us!

đľđ E-commerce and retail in the Philippines
A few months ago I was visiting the Philippines, it was a great holiday and besides sightseeing, I also used it to visit Bitcoin Island (a.k.a. Boracay) and retail places.
I made this video about it and wrote a blog post as well. So for everyone interested in Philippine retail, check it out, although a few months old, still a good read.

đł Coca-Colaâs Generative AI campaign give it a try
For those who missed it, Coca-Cola has an international campaign with Generative AI, called âCreate Real Magicâ. They collaborated directly with OpenAI.
Users are encouraged to personalize their holiday cards by incorporating elements from their own cultures, such as traditional symbols, festive colors, or even specific holiday greetings.
A true global campaign. Try it yourself.
More than 120,000 pieces of content were posted and people were interacting with the platform for more than seven minutes. We took those learnings and we selected the 20 top creators out of that platform and in the summer we met with them [at the Real Magic Academy] to discuss how we could improve that as we move forward.
What you are seeing now for Christmas is a result of what we learned on the platform, mostly around how people can interact in an easier way thatâs more exciting. We believe weâve made a platform now that is much more people-friendly to create a Christmas card that they can share with loved ones using Bain and OpenAI.Â
In the past, you would create some piece of content or a quiz or a great Christmas ad and hope people like it. Today, with the Christmas card as an example, itâs a two-way street in terms of how we engage with people and allow people to play with such an iconic brand as Coca-Cola.
