Global Digital Marketing & Retail by Alex 67
Inspiration from across the world for retail enthusiasts, e-commerce professionals, marketing lovers and technology fans. Welcome back! I summarized some great links again, I stumbled upon this week.
⚠️Perplexity shows the future -adapt your strategy’s-
As I have been writing/warning/informing here for a while now, AI shopping agents are real and they are closer than you think. This will have a big impact at many sites and marketplaces. Take a glimpse into the future now, with Perplexity Pro in the US. They introduced an AI shopping assistant that helps with complex multi-step shopping requests and it searches through many shopify shops at once. It’s the multi-step that makes it unique and highly interesting, but also a thread -and opportunity- to many companies. See link and video.
You no longer have to scroll through countless product reviews. Perplexity gives you comparisons in clear, everyday language, so you can narrow down the best choices quickly and confidently.

💬Telegram mini apps → app hits 1M profit
Whoever is used to WeChat (I used it and still use it a lot) understands the power of mini programs: they transform messengers into full-fledged ecosystems, enabling everything from games and shopping to payments and utility services, all within the app—seamlessly enhancing user experience and functionality without the need for additional downloads.
Now Telegram -probably next to WeChat, the messenger with the best interface- also has miniprograms or mini apps, they are slightly different but also a messenger enhancement, and they just got a massive update! Mini Apps 2.0, introducing powerful updates like full-screen mode for a more immersive experience, motion-sensing and gyro controls for interactive gameplay (especially in VR), and the ability to add shortcuts directly to your home screen for quick and seamless access to your favorite apps.
It’s worth checking out not only because its fun but also to learn, I think those mini apps -in whatever form- are the future and will be expanded to more and more messengers. And while you do check the mini apps from Telegram, try that with PAWS. PAWS has been released recently and even Pavel Durov commented on it:
20 days ago, a developer launched a Telegram mini app. He built it over a weekend — alone, with no team, budget or investors. His mini app already hit $1M in net profit.
Now I am not 100% sure (but 90%) he means PAWS but it shows the power of mini apps.
PAWS, a mini-app on Telegram , rewards users for their interactions, offering a unique approach compared to traditional games or social media.
Unlike platforms where users provide content and engagement in exchange for likes or followers, PAWS compensates users directly for their activity. Its model aligns with the growing trend of tap-to-earn games, creating a more engaging and rewarding user experience.

🗺️Auto dubbed youtube: brace for accents you never knew you had!
The future of podcasting or YouTubers is a global audience. With auto dubbing -in your own voice- the world gets much more global, we will understand each other better and there is so much more to learn. Now YouTube is taking a start with this by auto dubbing. No more need to use HeyGen for this use case. It gets mainstream now.

🇨🇳 Uniqlo: live streaming from stores to boost online sales
What I always do when I am in China is to explore local brands. Its fun to do and more and more brands that previously only were available in China, now more and more are available abroad. Also they have great quality nowadays. For example Anta and Li Ning. Now, Uniqlo the Japanese brand has difficulty in China and uses digital to boost sales. Hope to see some live streaming from a Uniqlo store when I will be in Shanghai and Shenzhen soon.
📺Go woke, Go boke? When car ads break the rules (for better or worse)
Last week, two car ads made waves in the digital space. Both got a lot of attention online. Jaguar's ad, from what I've seen, received a huge wave of negative comments. On the other hand, Volvo's ad stood out for completely throwing the 'laws' of social media out the window—ignoring every rule about ad length, structure (no quick cuts f.e.), and the 'dos and don’ts of engaging social content.

🤖Clicks in or via? AI lead to higher engagement
Makes sense, right, AI could generate more valuable results, so if you click onwards, you probably click to a destination you find valuable information. Try Perplixity with all it’s sources and I think you understand. This also aligns with Bing’s recent advice, to focus on user intent in your conten marketing:
Content must focus on user intent rather than just keywords.
Natural language processing (NLP) is crucial for ranking in AI search engines.
Regular content updates are essential for maintaining visibility in AI search results.

🇳🇱 🇰🇷 Taking the bus….
Now sometimes take public transport (bus) in the Netherlands and it really sucks. Those bus stops are always windy, mostly very uncomfortable and ugly. This one for example near my house:
Now see the video below, this is a bus stop in Korea. Imagine how someone from Korea (or several other countries in Asia) feel when they use Dutch public transport.
Air conditioning and heating systems.
Screen doors, AI surveillance cameras, and emergency call buttons enhance passenger security.
Digital displays show current bus arrival times and routes.
Air purification systems and monitors ensure cleaner air.
Free Wi-Fi and smartphone charging stations are available.
Voice guidance systems assist individuals with disabilities.
Solar panels/energy-efficient
Body temperature sensors and hand sanitizers help prevent illness spread.
Lot’s of advertising and information everywhere.
