⭐This is the way: how to write a good error message
One of the most annoying things about tech products is the almost always unclear error messages. That’s why I share this once again, if we all product managers and developers follow this framework, it all gets a lot easier.
🦜Meta AI unveils ‘Seamless’ translator for real-time communication across languages
This is so awesome and inevitable. But also makes it much less fun to learn a language, unfortunately.
We already saw something similar working in the “Star Trek alike” hu ma ne AI pin device. Now Meta released their version publicly and encourages developers to work with it. This might speed things up massively.
Things have come from a long way. When I was young, younger, this little book the “Veronica Vakantie Praatwaaier” was very popular. Find a sentence, check the number before that sentence, and find that same number on another page in all common European languages for the translation:
I wonder if in the future these translation models also take into account (or will change) cultural aspects like being “too direct” vs “saving face”.
The future of translation: Alex believes he is paying without including a tip, but the AI automatically adds it, as tipping is customary in this culture. 😄
🌎PagSeguro released a whitepaper on e-commerce and payment in Latin America
First of all the download link, as PagSeguro only allows business addresses in their Hubspot lead-gen form, which always annoys me, I uploaded the file to my Google Drive for direct access.
Direct hubspot link
The original PagSeguro link for downloading
The report is quite extensive and very interesting to read. Especially Brazil stands out for its advanced and innovative financial system.
You will also read how Latin America differentiates itself from Western markets through its diverse payment methods, the dominance of mobile transactions, and the pioneering role of countries like Brazil (and in the future El-Salvador, although the report does not zoom into that)
Cross-border e-commerce is rapidly growing in Latin America, with a forecasted significant increase in market value. Great time to be alive I would say as a cross-border fan.
🇭🇰 Hong Kong is building an amazing new retail and aviation hub
Look such an Amazing complex it includes the worlds largest karting track and so it seems great views from the rooftop as well.
Hong Kong is one of my, so not my favorite city. I have been there many, many times and I always enjoy the vibe there.
The bustling city combined with its nature, excellent public transport, the climate, the possibility to travel to Shenzhen(mainland) by subway, train, or boat, the ease of access to Macau, Zhuhai, or Taiwan, and the nightlife, makes it a great destination.
As I like HK so much, I always keep a close eye on the developments there.
Near the (amazing) bridge to Zhuhai and Macau, Hong Kong, and on Airport grounds, they are now developing a unique retail hub, the 11 Skies Complex.
11 Skies, the 3.8 million square-foot complex touted as Hong Kong’s largest indoor entertainment hub, is adding Vquarium, the city’s first-ever “virtual deep-ocean adventure experience”, to its list of attractions, according to the K11 Group, a unit of New World Development.
As part of the Hong Kong International Airport’s Skycity, the 11 Skies complex will house more than 800 shops and 120 dining options
“The availability of online shopping is causing consumers to visit shopping malls less. More consumers are visiting malls for dining, entertainment and social and leisure purposes. They are looking for unique shopping experience, lifestyles and convenience.”
Now that’s a huge development and improvement to the greater Bay Area and airport experience. This complex makes the Hong Kong International Airport experience even better than it already is. Asian Airports are so much better than in most of the Western world. Visitors (especially from Asia and the Middle East) will love this concept and these developments make Asia unique.
SKYCITY is strategically positioned just a short stroll from the airport's passenger terminals and is easily accessible by rail, road, and a network of footbridges. It is a major integrated commercial development forming part of the strategy to transform Hong Kong International Airport into an 'Airport City'.
Tourists from the mainland have also shifted their preferences. Instead of buying luxury goods in Hong Kong – a common sight before the anti-government protests and Covid-19 – they have become more interested in Instagram-worthy sights and less expensive goods, according to tour executives.
🇹🇭 Luckin Coffee in Thailand: same same, but different
As I wrote before, Luckin Coffee is a great brand and disrupting by localization. Thai “entrepreneurs” have started a copy version of Luckin coffee, probably to attract Chinese visitors.
These stores copied Luckin's design from decoration, logo design, coffee cups to carry bags, with the only difference being that the deer image in their logo was flipped horizontally.
Thank you for reading!
